{"id":694,"date":"2012-11-19T17:36:34","date_gmt":"2012-11-19T17:36:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/oil-analysis.testoil.com\/?p=694"},"modified":"2023-05-02T19:05:34","modified_gmt":"2023-05-02T19:05:34","slug":"new-membrane-patch-colorimetry-test-procedure-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/testoil.com\/did-you-know\/new-membrane-patch-colorimetry-test-procedure-2\/","title":{"rendered":"New Membrane Patch Colorimetry Test Procedure"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2 class=\"h2\">New MPC Test Procedure<\/h2>\n<div><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\"><strong><br \/>\nTechnical Bulletin<\/strong><\/span><\/div>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff9900;\"><strong>New Membrane Patch Colorimetry\u00a0Test Procedure <\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<div><em>TESTOIL is\u00a0modifying\u00a0its Membrane Patch Colorimetry (MPC) test procedure to a newly proposed ASTM standard. <\/em><\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><strong>Test Revisions<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>The proposed ASTM standard for the Membrane Patch Colorimetry test requires\u00a0a sample to be\u00a0heated for a period of 24 hours at the lab to allow any insoluble materials to return\u00a0into the solution.\u00a0 This effectively \"resets\" the sample to account for inconsistencies in shipping times or storage time prior to shipping.\u00a0 The sample is then held at room temperature for 72 hours before being analyzed.<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<div><strong>Other Improvements<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Along with this change, we will also be replacing our spectrophotometer with an improved instrument.\u00a0 These two changes are expected to improve data quality, but future results will be lower than historic data.\u00a0 Our alarm limits will be adjusted accordingly.\u00a0The new critical limit will be 33 dE and the marginal limit will be 23 dE.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div><a title=\"Membrane Patch Colorimetry -
